beto escamillaHeriberto (Beto) Escamilla is based in San Diego, California. Originally from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon Mexico, Dr. Escamilla was raised in Houston Texas until moving to San Diego in 1984. He holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego Campus and has delivered direct clinical services through several community based organizations and health centers in the San Diego area. Dr. Escamilla has participated on evaluation teams evaluating multi-site, multi component initiatives such as the ten-year Teen Pregnancy Prevention Initiative, and the 12-city Juvenile Crime Prevention Demonstration Project. He was CO-PI on the 23 grantee Community Action to Fight Asthma Initiative. He is experienced in most aspects of evaluation design, quantitative as well as qualitative, including logic model and instrument development, database development, data analysis as well as conducting individual and group interviews and focus groups. Over the past 13 years he has conducted numerous community engagement and mobilization activities primarily with Latino and African-American populations throughout the United States. Dr. Escamilla has also designed and delivered evaluation curriculums on both sides of the Mexican-American border.
